Safety and Community Rules
Showden is for film discovery, planning, and conversation. These rules explain what is prohibited, how to report a concern, and how moderation complaints are reviewed.
This form is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger in the UK, call 999. Do not download, copy, or redistribute suspected illegal material in order to report it.
Review
Reports enter the moderator queue. We prioritise credible threats, child-safety concerns, and potentially illegal content.
Act and appeal
We may restrict or remove content, limit accounts, preserve evidence, or refer matters where required. Affected users can appeal a moderation decision.
Community baseline
Content we do not allow
- Child sexual abuse, exploitation, grooming, or sexualisation of children.
- Terrorism, violent-extremist recruitment, credible threats, or instructions intended to cause serious harm.
- Hate, targeted harassment, stalking, doxxing, or encouragement of violence or self-harm.
- Non-consensual intimate content, sexual exploitation, or attempts to obtain sexual material without consent.
- Fraud, scams, impersonation, illegal sales, malware, or attempts to steal accounts or payment information.
- Spam, deliberate misinformation about events, spoiler abuse, or repeated disruption of film discussions.
Film discussion can involve difficult fictional themes. Context matters, but using film discussion to target people, facilitate harm, or share illegal material does not become acceptable because a film is being discussed.

What happens next
You receive a reference when the report is stored. Keep it if you request follow-up.
Moderation notices include an appeal route where one is available. Use the complaint category here for a reporting failure, safety concern, or moderation outcome not covered by that route.
We consider safety, privacy, freedom of expression, film-discussion context, and the rights of affected users. We do not guarantee a particular outcome.
